Current Opportunities

Summary

Wakoma is a social enterprise tackling challenges in connectivity and education by building open source solutions that start with communities at the “first centimeter”. At the same time, we are working with our partners to deploy community-based telecommunications infrastructure and localized educational services where access is unreliable or unaffordable.

In November our team won Best Overall Proof of Concept in the IEEE Connecting the Unconnected Challenge for the nimble, an open source hardware kit that enables anyone to build and deploy their own portable wireless mesh network. The brain behind the nimble, Lokal, is a software platform that brings together open source services that enable people to not just consume content, but produce, curate and share content in local languages relevant to local communities.

We are about to scale rapidly, so now is a great time to join the crew and help us develop new technologies and approaches that enable people to take education and connectivity into their own hands.

Beyond the positions listed below, if you are interested in working with our team or collaborating just reach out to info@wakoma.co.
